No fewer than traders persons were on Sunday afternoon killed at Edaiken market, Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.
The tragedy occurred after 18 passenger bus belonging to a popular transport company in the area, veered off Uselu-Lagos Express road and ploughed into the market.
An unspecified number of persons including traders injured the crash, had been taken to University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) for urgent medical attention, while blood stains and foodstuffs littered the floor.
Witnesses blamed the incident on break failure, while a traveller who identified himself as Mr. Austin said, the accident has caused a gridlock for over 1 kilometre stretch of the road to the hospital.
It was learnt that Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and police personnel in Ugbowo Division have stormed the scene to render emergency services and crowd control.
Recall that Egor Local Government Council authorities had barred traders who display their wares on the fringes of the market beyond the approved limit by the Government.
But, the order was enforced with kid gloves by government agents who collect revenues and rates from traders daily.
