Weeks after his arrest, INEC redeploys Edo REC, Cross River, others

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the redeployment of two Resident Electoral Commissioners, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Dr. Cyril Omorogbe was redeployed from Cross River State to Akwa Ibom State; while Dr. Alalibo Johnson Sinikiem was redeployed from Edo State to Cross River State.

The reorganization, according to Festus Okoye, national Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, takes immediate effect, adding that handing and taking over should be concluded on/or before Friday 26th August 2022, followed March 24, 2022, redeployment of 385 staff nationwide by INEC.

Recall that Alalibo was sometime in July, quizzed by Edo State police Command in connection with a petition received from Mr. Anthony Aziegbemi, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, the State Chapter, according to police report.

Okoye said said on Tuesday night in a statement that eight directorate-level staff across the Country were also redeployed by the Commission, which also redeployed Paul Omokore, Director, Planning and Monitoring Department, Headquarters, Abuja, moved as the new Director ICT, Headquarters, Abuja.

Engr. Chidi Nwafor, who was the Director, ICT, has been redeployed as the Administrative Secretary, Enugu State, INEC moved Mr. Chima Duruaku, Administrative Secretary, Anambra State, has been moved to be the Director, Planning and Monitoring Department, Headquarters, Abuja; while Mr. Jude Okwuanu, the Administrative Secretary, Enugu State, has been moved as Administrative Secretary to Anambra State.

The Acting Director, Human Resource Management, Headquarters, Abuja, Usman Musa Wase, was reassigned to Nasarawa State as Acting Administrative Secretary; Mr. Salisu Garba, Director in the Electoral Operations Department, now Director Procurement, Headquarters, Abuja.

Similarly, Barrister Waziri Zanna Acting Administrative Secretary, FCT, now Acting Director, Human Resource Management, Headquarters, Abuja; while Godwin Wada Edibo, Acting Administrative Secretary, Nasarawa State, now Acting Administrative Secretary, FCT.
