A medical doctor at the Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital in Sokoto State, Professor Mustapha Umar Imam and four other hostages who were abducted on March 28 aboard an Abuja-Kaduna train have been freed by terrorists.
Recall that gunmen had on March 28 blown up the rail track, killing an unspecified number of persons and abducting scores of passengers.
Channels television said a member of the negotiating team, Tukur Mamu who gave the names of four other victims as Akibu Lawal, Abubakar Ahmed Rufai Mukthar Shu’aibu and Sidi Aminu Sharif were released on Tuesday.
The development brings the number of freed hostages to 37 while 35 others are still in captivity, a few days after three other victims the abducted Kaduna-bound train were set free by terrorists.
The Newspaper could not immediately verify if ransom was paid before the hostages.
