A 54-year-old man, Dauda Bello is cooling his feet in police custody in Ogun State in connection with the alleged murder of Septuagenarian, Mrs Mesesi Adisa who was his his human trafficking business partner.
The incident which occurred on July 7, 2022 at Olodo area of Imala in Ogun State, after police had declared the 71-year-old woman missing since on the 8th of June 2022 and didn’t return home, following a complaint by a grieving relation of the victim at Sabo/Ilupeju police station in the State.
A statement by the Nigeria police Command’s spokesman DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi on Tuesday , said, operatives trailed and arrested Daudu in his house at Olodo area of Imala in the State where he allegedly perpetrated the heinous crime.
He said,” The case was later transfered to anti kidnapping unit of the state criminal investigation department where technical and intelligence based investigation was embarked upon”, which led to arrest of the suspected murderer who tagged the victim as a human trafficker and a business partner.
The vengeful suspect, according to the statement, invited the victim on that fateful day to discuss their usual business, but on getting to his house, he discovered that the victim came with the sum of N22,200.00 (Twenty Two Thousand, Two Hundred Naira), which he thought was a huge amount of money.
Consequently, he clubbed the woman to death with a heavy wooden stick, which made the woman to be unconscious and thereafter carried the unconscious woman to the bush where the victim gave up the ghost, having realized that his aim of getting much money from the victim was in vain.
Daudu, was said to have cut off her two wrists and ankles, which he claimed to have been sold to somebody who is now at large.

DSP Oyeyemi revealed that the suspect had taken the Police to the bush where he buried the victim in a shallow grave, and the dismembered body had been recovered and deposited in the mortuary for preservation.
Part of the statement said, “In the course of investigation, the SP Taiwo Opadiran led team traced the last place visited by the victim to be the house of the suspect at Olodo area of Imala.
“The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken to custody for investigation.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to have known the victim for quite some time now, and that they were both into the business of children trafficking”, according to the statement.
In the meantime, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, commended the team for a thorough job and has ordered that the case be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
He also directed that anybody who is directly or indirectly involved in the case should be brought to account for the crime.
