Fred Akaayar, a University lecturer in Taraba State, and unspecified number of Civilians have been shot dead by unknown gunmen in the State.

Elsewhere at Jootar area in Ukum Local Government Area, a border Community between Benue and Taraba States, two other policemen have also been murdered on Friday in a renewed hostilities by gunmen.

The lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at the Federal University, Wukari, Taraba State, was reportedly hacked to death by suspected assailants in Guma and Ukum Local Government Areas of the State.

Spokesperson of the Nigeria police in Benue State, SP. Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident during a media group chat.

But she is yet to reveal the identity o the personnel and details of the attack as at the time of filing this report.

“I received information that two policemen died in an operation at Makurdi-Lafia road but I am yet to receive details please”, SP. Anene said.
