The police Command in Anambra State has lamented that its operatives made effort to rescue the former member of Anambra house of Assembly, Hon. Nelson Emeka Achukwu who was allegedly kidnapped gunmen and beheaded.

The physically-challenged victim was abducted at his Country home in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State by gunmen who thereafter beheaded after N15 million ransom was paid by his family few days ago.

His mutilated and decomposing body which was later recovered by relatives of politician at Ulasi river bank and was buried immediately on Tuesday, 21st June, 2022, according to his family.

The Command’s spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga disclosed this in a chat with reporters.

“The victim was abducted at about 10:15 pm in his house on June 9 and efforts were been made to rescue him before this unfortunate development. His body was found between the boundary of Uke and Ukpor”, according to Ikenga.

“We are still not relenting in our investigation as we will ensure that the culprits will face the law,” he assured.

Recall that unknown gunmen in May 2022, kidnapped and beheaded the lawmaker representing Aguata North Constituency — the State Governor, Charles Soludo who pledged N10 million ransom to anyone who could offer information about the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of the crime.
