The discovery of two mutilated corpses at water channels in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State have heightened tension among residents in the locality.

It was learnt that one of the bodies (a middle-aged man), was hacked to death on Monday night, but his body was discovered the following morning after a heavy downpour at Okhoro area.

The second victim, was recovered from murky water around Hitech Construction company site near Baptist school on television road in the same Local Government Area by security operatives.

The cause of deaths are unknown, but some residents around the flooded axis on television area, linked the death of the young Lady to ritual.

A local barber in the area who gave his name as ‘Akin’, said the swollen body of the young woman with cut over her body, was found floating on the flood on Wednesday morning.

He hinted further that some residents around the area, drew the attention of security personnel who took her body away.

According to him, “We now sleep with one eye open in our area. On Wednesday, the body of a female was found floating on water.

“We woke up to see the girl. Only God knows when she was killed!”, he lamented.

Efforts by our Correspondent to reach the Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), Edo Command, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor for comments, were unsuccessful as he did not take his calls.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 5, AIG Tanko Jimeta on Wednesday, decorated six newly promoted senior police officers in the Zone.

AIG Jimeta, charged operatives of the force to intensify their efforts in the fight against the rising security challenges facing the nation.
