An unspecified number of worshippers have been killed in St. Francis Catholic church in Owa-luwa Street, in the Owo Local Government Area of the state.

Owo, the Country home of the Stare governor, Oluwarotimi Akereodolu.

The sanctuary was allegedly invaded by suspected bandits during Sunday worship and began to shoot indiscriminately, according to multiple reports.

Women and children were feared dead while several worshipers have been left injured by the gunmen detonated explosives and abducted a Priest in the church.

A dependable source said the injured victims have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo for medical attention.

The spokesman of the Nigeria police Command in Ondo State, DSP Odunlami Ibukun who confirmed the incident, said police personnel attached to Ordinance Explosive Device (OED) have been deployed to the scene.
