A female revenue collector in Oredo Local government Area of Edo State has been reportedly brutalized by a member of Public Works Volunteer (PUWOV).

She was accused of blocking the arrest of a driver accused of violating traffic rules on Ezoti street on Wednesday morning in the Local Government.

The outrage, attracted nearby bystanders rescued the victim (name withheld) who was left with body bags and a bleeding nose.

One of the nearby drivers at ‘I beg you’ junction’ in Ezoti street who confirmed the incident, alleged that the Volunteer, was later apprehended.

He revealed that the alleged culprit, was paraded before the Coordinator of PUWOV, Mr. Mukhtar Yusuf-Osagie, frowned at the incident and donated sum of N10,000 cash towards her treatment.

According to him, “Mr. Mukhtar, has removed his shirt. He also gave the injured woman N10,000 to treat herself. If you see her face, you will marvel.

“He (PUWOV official) used an iron bar to condemn her and her right arm. Her wrist became very swollen”, he said.

Another witness said the incident to our Correspondent, alleged Yusuf-Osagie also ordered immediate suspension of the erring official.

In April 2021, a male revenue collector kitted with a branded Oredo Local Government Council’s vest, was caught wielding a machete around Second East Circular road area of the State.
