Senator Francis Alimikhena on Friday resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC), a few hours to Senatorial primary election of Nigeria’s ruling party on Saturday.
Alimikhena, represents Edo North Senatorial district where the two-term governor of Edo State and former National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshionhole hails from.
The Senator conveyed his resignation from APC via a letter dated May 27and sent to the APC National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu, alleging ‘injustice’.
Alimikhena who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff, travails began after Oshionhole whose grip on the party, cuts across the three Senatorial district, indicted to run for the seat in 2023 election.
“I write to notify you that I have withdrawn from the Primary election as a result of injustice and also withdraw my membership from the party,”
Alimikhena however did not disclosed his next plans.
But our Correspondent recalls that Alimikhena, rode on Oshiomhole’s popularity win the Senatorial election in 2019, against all odds.
