Two gang members behind the attack of travellers on the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway at at Rijana Community have been arrested and paraded by police authorities in Abuja.
Operatives of the Force Intelligence Bureau Intelligence Response Team (FIB-IRT) nabbed the suspects
along witn 21 others for various criminal offences, Force Public Relations officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said on Friday.
He disclosed this in a Press statement in Abuja where he said culpable homicide, armed robbery, kidnapping, arms trafficking, possession of prohibited firearms and rape top the offences linked to the 23 suspects.
He revealed that 22-year-old Sani Usman and Mohammed Tijjani, 23 years both from Pai Konkore, Gwagwalada in the Federal Capital Territory were were said to have been involved in a case of kidnapping and armed robbery on the road.
Olumuyiwa listed a wide range of arms and ammunitions that were recovered from the suspects who would be arraigned in court on completion of investigations.
Part of the statement reads, “In one of the cases, the duo of Sani Usman aged 22 years, and Mohammed Tijjani aged 23 years, both from Pai Konkore, Gwagwalada, in the Federal Capital Territory were apprehended in connection with a case of kidnapping and armed robbery on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway”.
“Operatives of the Force Intelligence Bureau Intelligence Response Team (FIB-IRT) have recorded massive successes against agents and collaborators of violent crimes in the Country…Amongst others, including the killers of ex-Zamfara State gubernatorial aspirant and owner of Famak British Schools, Alhaji Sagir Hamidu, at Rijana”, according to the statement.
The Force Public Relations officer said, “The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba commended the FIB-IRT operatives for the successes recorded”.
He said the IGP conveyed the Force’s commitment to dutifully following up on established cases, conclusively investigating such with a bid to bring all persons found wanting to justice.
