Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday ordered all members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) seeking elective offices to resign.
They were also directed to
submit their letters of resignation on or before Monday the 16th of May, 2022.
Mr Lai Mohamed, the Minister of information and Culture, disclosed this during the Federal Executive Council meeting.
He revealed that the directive exclude the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
The minister explained that if there are any amendments or additions to this directive they would be made shortly.
The directive might involve political appointees, accordingly if the need arises.
Some of the affected appointees are Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele and the Minister of Transportation and Rotimi Amaechi.
Others are minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Timipreye Sylva and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio.
