Police arrest robbery suspect with pistol in Ogun


A member of robbery gang, Isikilu Moses has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria police at Joju area of Sango ota area in Ogun State.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Ogun State police Command’s spokesman in the State, said Isikilu was arrested in the early hours of Friday April 8th, 2022 while carrying out robbery operation in Adebeshi street, off Joju road, Sango ota.

Oyeyemi said in a statement on Sunday that the suspect was arrested, following a distress call received by policemen at Sango divisional headquarters in the State.

He said police operatives swooped on the members of the gang who invaded area and allegedly dispossessed members of the Community of their belongings at gun point.

Oyeyemi also stated that other members of the gang fled while Isikilu was arrested while one locally made pistol and two mobile phones belonging to their victims were recovered from the suspect.

Part of the statement read: “Upon the distress call, the Divisional Police officer DPO) attached to Sango Division, SP Saleh Dahiru, quickly mobilised his patrol team and moved to the scene.

“On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums took to their heels, but they were hotly chased and one amongst them by name Isikilu Moses was apprehended”, the statement said.

Responding, CP Lanre Bankole, the State Commissioner of police, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.

He also ordered a manhunt for the remaining members of the gang with the view of bringing them to justice.
