The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), has lamented the short notice issued by the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) for the conduct of Local Government election in the State.
It however assured that Council will fully participate in the election scheduled for April 19, 2022.
Chairman of IPAC in Edo State, Mr. Omoregie Joseph-Osa made the remark when he led members of his executive on a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council at the weekend in Benin City.
He also assured that the exercise would bring democratic governance closer to people at the grassroots level.
“The short notice did not give us enough time for us to prepare for the election”, he said.
Omoregie-Osa who was flanked by the State Secretary of IPAC and State Chairman of Action Allianc (AA), Engr. Israel Guobadia, explained that IPAC deems it fit to extend a hand of fellowship to NUJ due to the critical roles of the Media as the watchdog of society.
Responding, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, the Chairman of Edo NUJ, urged IPAC executives to engage in activities that will strengthen democracy in Nigeria.
