The family of Nigeria’s first female Vice Chancellor, Professor Grace Alele- Williams has shared the last moment the Matriarch had with them before her death.
This was revealed when the University of Benin (UNIBEN) visited the Alele-Williams’ family in Lagos State, to commiserate with them on the passing of the former Vice Chancellor of the institution.
The Public Relations officer of the University of Benin, Dr. (Mrs) Benedicta Ehanire said on Wednesday in a Press statement that the high power delegation was led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Dr Sonny Kuku, the Olor’ ogun.
Ehanire said Professor Alele-Williams’ children, Dr Orode Doherty and Mr Lattee Williams received the delegation on behalf of the family.
The statement noted that the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Lilian Salami, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Professor Maureen Ebomoyi and the Registrar, Mr Ademola Bobola were also on the delegation.
Following Alele-Williams’ death on Friday March 23rd, 2022 at 89, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Salami, directed flag will fly at half mast over the institution in honour of its former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Grace Alele-Williams.
