Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja was on Tuesday night destroyed by angry angry sports fans.

A few years ago, Africa richest man, Aliko Dangote donated the sum $1m for the remodelling of the stadium.

Angry fans in a large number video ignored tear gas canisters fired by security operatives, vent their spleen on the facilities at the stadium after the match.

It was learnt that some spectators started throwing water cans on the football pitch at the end of the match, prompting security operatives to whisk the footballers and other officials from the filed of play over possible mob attack.

Super Eagles failed to qualify for the World Cup tournament which ended on Tuesday after drawing 1-1 with Ghana.

The host (Nigeria) lost on aggregate in competition slated for Qatar later this year, 2022.

Recall that the stadium played host to international tournament over 10 years ago over decayed infrastructure.

TheNewspad could not immediately verify if any arrest was made by security agents as at the time of filing this report.
