Nigeria’s first female VC, Alele-Williams dies at 89

The first Nigerian female Vice Chancellor, Prof. Grace Alele-Williams (emeritus), is dead.

She passed at 89 after a brief illness, according to dependable sources in Delta State.

In 1985, Ms. Alele-Williams who hailed from Delta State, was appointed Vice Chancellor of University of Benin (UNIBEN) where she dealt with social vices.

The Octogenarian made history as the first female Vice-Chancellor of Nigerian University.

She was also the first Nigerian woman to receive a doctorate degree in Mathematics Education.
