A former governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano has been granted an administrative by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Recall that Obiano was arrested by the anti-graft agency while attempting to escape from Nigeria at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, hours after he left office and handed over to the new Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo.
He was released on Wednesday evening, according to an official at the Commission who hinted that Obiano’s “passport was seized by the anti-graft agency as part of his bail conditions”.
A statement by EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, is being awaited.
Obiano is being investigated for alleged mismanagement of N37 billion security vote, withdrawn in cash, some inflated contracts and N5 billion Sure-P funds.
