Police authorities have began investigation into the alleged murder of a motorcyclist in Araromi Village via Ilogbo town, Ogun State.
The two arrested robbery suspects, Hammed Ismail and Osoba Yakubu, had reportedly snatched a motorcycle and subsequently killed the rider identified as Yusuf Buhari before they were caught by the detectives in conjunction with the Community Vigilante.
A statement by the Police Command in Ogun State, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi on Sunday said the tragedy was reported by Mr. Buhari Saliu, who alleged that his 25-year-old son, Yusuf Buhari left home with his motorcycle a day before he was found dead in an uncompleted building at Araromi Village via Ilogbo town.
The distraught father who reported the incident at Sango divisional headquarters on the 15th of March 2022, also told police that his son’s motorcycle is nowhere to be found.
The police spokesman said, “Upon the report, the DPO Sango Ota division, SP Saleh Dahiru detailed his detectives to the scene where the corpse was evacuated and handed over to the family who insisted on burying him according to their religious belief.
“Determined to unravel the the mystery behind the gruesome murder of the victim, the DPO and his men embarked on technical and intelligence based investigation, and in conjunction with the Community vigilante and so safe corps, Ismail Hammed was arrested with the motorcycle of the victim.
Police report said Ismail’s arrest led to the apprehension of his accomplice, Osoba Yakubu.
Accordingly, the Commissioner of police in Ogun State, CP Lanre Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects who have confessed to the alleged crime, to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation and prosecution.
