Unknown gunmen have reportedly attacked the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) headquarters in Ebonyi State.

The incident occurred barely one month after the agency lost two officers in an attack on Abakaliki-Enugu highway.

Four persons were reportedly shot dead when hoodlums invaded the office at Ntezi in Íshíelu local Government Area of Ebonyi State in the early hours of Tuesday.

DSP Loveth Odah, the spokesperson of the police Command in Ebonyi said a security agent and a suspect in NDLEA custody as well two members of the armed gang were allegedly killed the in attack.

The hoodlums were however repelled by operatives of the agency, soldiers and police personnel, according to the Odah.

She also revealed that others hoodlums escaped with injuries while two riffles and ammunition were recovered from the attackers amongst other items.

“Unfortunately, one of the officers and a patient undergoing rehabilitation at the agency’s rehabilitation centre were also killed,” she said.

She added that security agencies have launched a manhunt for the fleeing hoodlums.
