.

The governor of River State, Nyesom Wike has petitioned the national leadership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), demanding that a disciplinary action against Edo State deputy governor, Mr. Philip Shaibu and possible expulsion from the party.

He accused the deputy Governor of threatening PDP during at a rally in honour of the national Chairman of the party, Mr. Iyorcha Ayu last week Thursday in Benin City, the State Capital where Shaibu stated that there is an alternative party for him and Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki with his followers if the crisis in the umbrella party in the State, is not resolved.

Recall that the Edo State deputy Governor who defected along with Obaseki in July 2020 after he and Governor Godwin Obaseki, were denied the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket in the September 19, 2020 Governorship election.

Speaking at the the inauguration of the Eastern Bypass Road project in Port Harcourt, Governor Wike, urged the national leadership of the party to urgently set up a Disciplinary Committee of the party against the deputy governor.

He said “This is the thing I am talking about impunity. I was watching when a Deputy governor was ranting in the media, threatening the party that there is an alternative to PDP”

I have written to the national Chairman of our party if you do not constitute Ethics and Disciplinary Committee to discipline the deputy Governor, I will invoke a Section of our party Constitution…

“This is the same deputy Governor that they were kneeling down to beg for to give them umbrella. Today, he has the effrontery to threaten PDP. It is a shame. These are the same people when they were denied ticket under APC, they were running helter skelter, begging everybody to give them umbrella.

“If you have defected, leave the seat if you know it’s easy. And this will checkmate most of these political harlots who will never sit one place.

“This is the thing I am talking about impunity. I was watching when a deputy governor was ranting in the media, threatening the party that there is an alternative to PDP.

It is unfortunate for our party…wearing Khakhi, look at him…who is his father? He came out to threaten a whole party where we are Governors. Now that he has started the trouble, let him wait, we will make sure that he never have rest. You don’t come and threaten us. It will never work!”, Wike said.
