Tragedy struck in the early hours of Friday when a truck allegedly crushed three pupils to death in Sabongidda-Ora, Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
The Children were said to be crossing an arterial road when the truck belonging to a popular beverage Companies was loaded with empty bottles crates of beverages.
It was learnt that the yet-to-be identified driver of the truck fled with the vehicle after the incident when a motley of youths attempted to pounce on him.
It was further leant that the driver after he had offloaded the empty crates of beverages to some dealers in the area.
The unidentified driver thereafter fled, but he got stuck at a police check point at Uhuere Village in the locality, according to a resident in the area.
The driver took to his heels at the check point through the bush path which hampered the progress of the search by angry youths who savaged what was left in the abandoned vehicle.
The Edo State Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Henry Benamaisia confirmed the incident.
But he however promised to release details of the crash the collation of data on the crash is completed.
