Senator Lekan Balogun on Monday emerged as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Governor Seyi Kaninde of Oyo State who said this in a Press statement endorsed by his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa, wished Balogun, a peaceful and eventful reign.
TheNewspad recalls that the development seems to have laid to rest the tussle over the position after the demise of Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji on Sunday January 2, 2022.
Balogun’s appointment the new new Olubadan of Ibadanland, was approved by Mr. Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State.
Part of the statement read: “I am pleased to announce the appointment of the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Lekan Balogun as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“The appointment is in line with the Olubadan of Ibadan Chieftaincy Declaration, as well as the unique and time-tested tradition of our people.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Oyo State, I wish the newly confirmed Olubadan a successful reign blessed with peace and unprecedented progress”, the statement said.
