Four teenagers have been arrested by police for alleged murder of a girl identified as Rofiat for ritual purpose in Ogun State.

It was gathered that Rofiat, was allegedly lured by her boyfriend identified as Soliu Majekudumi who led three of his friends — Wariz Oladehinde (17), Abdul Gafar Lukman (19), and Saliu Majekudumi (20), allegedly cut off her head and packed the remains in a sack, and dumped it in an old building.

Spokesman of Ogun State police Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the arrest of the four suspects in the early hours of Saturday, following a discrete preliminary investigation.

Oyeyemi revealed that after the tragedy, the Divisional Police officer (DPO) in charge of Adatan Division, SP Abiodun Salau, quickly led his detectives to the crime scene and escaped after they committed the abominable act.

Nemesis however caught up with the quartet including Soliu Majekodumi (18), the last suspect that was arrested in connection with the crime, according to the police spokesman.

Oyeyemi further recall in the statement that: “On interrogation, the arrested suspects confessed that what they were burning in the local pot is the head of the girlfriend of their escaped accomplice”.

Part of the statement read: “The arrested suspects subsequently led policemen to the building where the dismembered body was recovered and deposited at general hospital mortuary for autopsy”.

Also, “the short cutlass and a knife used in cutting off the deceased head were also recovered” from the arrested suspected confessed further that the crime”.

Responding, the Commissioner of police, Lanre Bankole, described the action of the suspects as height of callousness has ordered for a massive manhunt for the fleeing boyfriend of the victim by name Soliu.

Oyeyemi explained that the Commissioner of police also ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Ogun State Command for discreet investigation with the view to arraign them in court accordingly.
