Police have provided details on how Mr. Otokito Federal Oparmiola, Bayelsa State Commissioner for Trade and Commence was reportedly kidnapped by gunmen.

SP Asinim Butswat, the spokesman of Bayelsa State police Command confirmed the incident in Press statement on Friday.

He revealed that Otokito was whisked away by gunmen from his residence in Otuokpoti, a riverine Community in Ogbia Local Government Area the State on Thursday night.

The statement read: “The Command has launched a manhunt for the rescue of the victim and the arrest of the suspects.
Investigation is ongoing.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the kidnappers stormed the residence of Hon Federal Otokito on 20th January 2022 at about 2300hours and whisked him away in a waiting speedboat to an unknown destination.

“The Command has launched a manhunt for the rescue of the victim and the arrest of the suspects. Investigation is ongoing”, according to the police.
