Lawmakers vote N287.6m for  mosque building in NASS Complex


Senator Ibrahim Shekarau-led National Assembly Muslim Mosque building Committee, has proposed the sum of N287.6m to build a mosque at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

The funding will be from individual contributions and members of the Muslim Community in the National Assembly including current and former elected members, Tribune Newspaper reports.

Shekarau who represents Kano Central Senatorial district,is the Chairman of the 17-member Committee of the project that will be completed with a period of 10 months from the time of commencement.

He signed the contractual agreement with the contractor, Best Homes Construction Limited as well as the presentation of the award letter.

Recall that the management of the National Assembly, FCT Administration, allocated plots of land within the National Assembly Complex to build the mosque and another plot for the church for Christians in the National Assembly.
