Maid declared wanted for allege killing of ex- governor’s mother


A maid (name withheld) has been declared wanted in connection with the alleged murder of a 85-year-old woman in the early hours of Thursday.

The grand mother who hailed from Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, had remained confined to a wheel chair since her 80th birthday.

It was gathered that the victim is the mother of a former governor of Edo State.

The suspect who source described as light-skin, is believed to be in her early 20’s.

She was said to have strangled and killed the Octogenarian she was employed to live with and attend to her needs at Ugbo residence, Government Reservation Area in Benin City.

The suspect was also alleged to have stolen the jewelry of the grand mother along with huge sum of money after the incident and thereafter escaped.

TheNewspad understands that the security agencies had been formally notified about the tragedy, which has set her family members in edge.

The family members of the octogenarian were said to have also pledged a handsome reward for anyone that provide information about the whereabout of the maid.

A social media user wrote wrote on Thursday, “For those who hire maids to care for loved ones back home, please always verify the characters of the maids. Having guarantors is not a bad idea”.

Family members of the deceased and the Nigeria police, however declined comments on the incident.
