Five ‘sex workers’ have been arrested during a night raid of a popular Brothel (name withheld) in Benin City, Edo State Capital.

The suspects were allegedly apprehended on First East Circular road by policemen on patrol at a relaxation centre.

An undercover investigation revealed that suspects were camped for commercial sex at the Brothel.

They were accused of doping and possessing substance suspected to be cannabis by the operatives.

It was learnt that the ladies were however released after a few hours of interrogation with security personnel.

On Thursday, one of the suspects who was dressed seductively, alleged that the five of them parted with the sum of N25,000 while the cannabis’ that was found in their possession was seized from them before they were freed.

“We went to smoke at behind and while we were there, suddenly, some policemen who carried guns surrounded us and arrested us.

“They said we were smoking Egbo (cannabis) and that we should follow them to the station. Oga begged for us. But they insisted that we should follow them.

“When we got there, you know as usual, bail is not free. We paid N5,000 each before they released us that night”, the sex worker who craved for anonymity said.

The Nigeria police, Edo State Command, is yet to respond to inquiry by our Correspondent.
