Anambra poll: Police blame technical error for non-payment of personnel allowances

.

The Nigeria says technical error might have caused the delay in payment of entitlements of some police personnel on governorship election duties in Anambra State.

Force Public Relations officer, CP Frank Mba disclosed this on Nigerian Television Authority, NTA’s “Anambra Decides Live” programme, Saturday.

Mba’s disclosure comes few hours after he disowned a disturbing video of a group of police personnel on election duties, protesting non-payment of their feeding allowances and accommodation problems on Facebook.

The police spokesman said, “Police have asked the PRO in charge of Budget and Finance to compile all the names of the affected junior officers and send it to the Force headquarters for us to resolve the issues”.

“Most of them have gotten alerts. You know police when they get alert, they do not hide it. The delay could be technical issues, according to him.

“For those who have not received their allowances by now, there must be a technical or a clerical issue that need to be dealt with”, he said.

“For anybody that has not gotten their alerts, there must be a technical issue”, Mba said.

Speaking on the security arrangements in the election, Mba said, “There is a robust customised tailor end security that is designed to suit this election.

“We will redesign the deployment police personnel in the next general elections.
