Prisoners set free in Oyo jailbreak


An unspecified number of inmates at the Abolongo Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) have been set free by gunmen.

The hoodlums were said to used explosive device and fired gunshots before they gained access into facility at about 10:30p.m on Friday.

Spokesman for the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) in the state, Olanrewaju Anjorin who conformed the attack on Saturday morning, said manhunt for the fleeing inmates have began.

He is yet to give details of how the prison was breached and the number of casualties recorded in connection with the incident.

“It has been confirmed that the attack actually happened.

“And right now, the comptroller of Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) and other top officers are assessing the situation”, he said.

Investigation revealed that the incident has heightened tension in
Abolongo area of the State.
