President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a tough warning to bandits, stating that the clock of their ultimate destruction is ticking.
He said this in relation to the allege killing of at least 30 people at the market area in Goronyo Local Government Area of the State between Saturday and Sunday.
Just as Alhaji Mohammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, has urged the Nigeria Army to mobilize every available resources at his disposal to confront the adversaries of the State.
Garba Shehu, presidential aide who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, quoted Buhari as saying the gunmen will soon no longer have a place to hide.
According to him, “The clock of your ultimate destruction is ticking, as you will no longer have a place to hide.
“The(se) bandits are currently under desperate pressure because of the intense and sustained air and ground operations against them in their hideouts by our security forces.
“The cowardly attacks on innocent people by the bandits show a rearguard action of criminals under pressure. But they will have no place to hide and our gallant security forces will not relent in the current offensive to defeat these callous enemies of humanity”.
Buhari who urged Nigerians to be patient as security agencies work to improve safety across the Country, assured that his administration is determined “more than ever before to protect Nigerians from murderous criminal gangs that have no respect for the sanctity of life”.
Welcoming the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieut-General Faruk Yahaya in the palace on Monday in Sokoto State, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Mhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, lamented the rising insecurity in Nigeria and sued for more commitment from the security agencies to end the menace.
The Director Army Public Relations Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu said this INA statement on Monday.
He said the Sultan assured the COAS of his continuous support to enable him succeed in his mandate.
Earlier in a remark, the Army Staff, COAS, Lieut-General Faruk Yahaya, described his visit as home coming to seek the Sultan’s guidance and support, as custodian of culture and traditions of the people

The Executive Governor of Sokoto State Right Honourable Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has reaffirmed his commitment to support the Nigerian Army (NA) to tackle insecurity bedeviling the Northwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria.
The Governor stated that in spite of the state’s lean resources, the state government will do all it could to provide requisite support to end banditry in Sokoto and the contiguous states. The Governor stated this when the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House on Monday.
Also speaking when he granted audience to the Army Chief, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, urged him to review the ongoing operations with renewed strategies to identify and destroy bandits’ enclaves.
He stated that the recent attacks on Goronyon Village was quite disheartening and sued for the need to review strategies of military operations in the zone to prevent a recurrence.
He also called for collective effort among citizens and security agencies to fish out perpetrators of heinous crimes in the society and cautioned the public not to shield any one supporting banditry, especially their informants and logistics suppliers.
The Governor also called on the Federal Government to inject more personnel and resources to make operations much more easier for the security agencies.
The COAS was on an operational visit to Headquarters 8 Division to assess troops’ operational readiness and provide guidance on strategies to address the security challenges within the Division’s Area of Operational responsibility.
