The equipment was reportedly destroyed by rainstorm on Tuesday, thereby posing danger to road users, energy consumers and residents of the area who had been without electricity supply after the incident.

It was learnt that BEDC started the repair work on the broken down equipment, following a peaceful protest by members of EDOCSOs and residents of the area on Friday morning.

A team of Engineers had cut electricity supply from the affected communities, but relics of the disaster including broken electricity poles and cables were allegedly abandoned despite entreaties by residents to BEDC to intervene.

Operatives of the Nigeria police were on ground to protect and maintain law and order.

Members of the Organizations also ensured that there was free flow of traffic dramatically, and resisted attempts by saboteurs to distort the message of human right.

They also vowed to keep vigil in the area until the repair work is completed and electricity is restored.
