In a rare display of affection, the Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, has postponed his 5th Coronation anniversary Celebration which slated for October 20, 2021 in Edo State indefinitely, in honour of late Capt. Idahosa Wells Okunbo.
The funeral activities and burial of Okunbo, Edo born billionaire and Philanthropist who passed in August this year at the London hospital at 63 after a prolonged ailment, was held at the weekend in Benin Capital, Edo State Capital.
Secretary, Benin Traditional Council, Mr. Frank Irabor in a statement on Monday on behalf of the traditional ruler who ascended the throne of his forbears on October 2016, described the late Sexagenarian as ‘an illustrious son’ of the State.
According to the statement, “As a result of the demise of Captain Idahosa Wells Okunbo, and his burial few days ago, His Royal Majesty, has directed that all the events lined up to mark the fifth Coronation anniversary Celebration of His Royal on 20th October 2021, should be postponed in honour of Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo, who was an illustrious son of Edo State in whom I am well pleased”.
