Sowore demands release of actor Chiwetalu Agu in DSS custody


The Convener of #RevolutionNow Movement and human activist, Omoyele Sowore has demanded for the immediate release of Nollywood Actor Chiwetalu Agu for spotting in a well known rising sun regalia of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB.

Recall that Agu, was re-arrested by operatives of Department of State Security Service — a few hours after he regained from from the Nigerian army custody on Friday as reported by Emeka Rollas, national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), amidst outrage.

In a terse statement on his Facebook page on Saturday, Sowore described the action of DSS as lawless.

He said the veteran actor, did not committed any offence by wearing a regalia bearing the insignia of BIAFRA.

According to the Sowore, “Lawless DSS must release Chiwetalu Agu with immediate effect. He’s not committed any offence by wearing the Rising Sun regalia of the Biafran people. #RevolutionNow.

Similarly, the Human Rights Writers Association Of Nigeria, berated the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Army over the arrest and detention of veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu.

The Civic advocacy group in a statement described the arrest of Agu as injustice, ethnic profiling, the arrest of the actor for wearing ‘Biafran colours’, while popular Islamic Cleric, Sheik, Ahmad Gumi, roams freely with bloodthirsty bandits.
