Tragedy struck on Tuesday evening when gunmen reportedly killed Dr. Chike Akunyili, husband to late former Information Minister, Prof. Dora Akunyili.

Recall that Dora, former Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, died in 2014 at the age of 59.

It was learnt that the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA) don was allegedly murdered shortly after attending a function.

As at the time of filing this report, a statement from the Nigeria police, Anambra State Command on the Dr. Akunyili’s death is being awaited.
