Recall that on Wednesday September 15, 2021, the government began the enforcement of ‘no evidence of Covid-19 vaccination card, no entry’ into public facilities, government offices across the State and Government House in Benin City, in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.

Investigation revealed that the workers were all fired on Monday September 20, 2021, few days after their attention was drawn to Covid19 vaccination pre-enforcement notice by the Management of the Company located in a densely populated business area in Oredo Local Government Area of the State.

A security personnel working in the establishment said the four workers (name withheld), lost their jobs after the Managing Director of the Company demanded proof of their vaccination (cards) after when they resumed work on the fateful day.

According to the source, “Four of our workers have just been sacked for refusing to vaccinate. Who are we not to comply with the directive?. They need to enhance our operation. A few of us were left. I am not happy because we are overworked, it is not easy.

“We will not play sentiment in enforcement of non-Pharmaceutical Interventions (NPIs). We have been told to enforce ‘no evidence of Covid-19 vaccination, no entry’. Any visitor or guest or Customer that fail to shown show us evidence of vaccination, we will not allow the person into our premises even if you are a worker here.

“I am at my duty post today because I have been vaccinated. I do not want to be sacked. There is no job anywhere”, the security personnel said.
