Truck crushes commuters to death in Edo

Unspecified number of persons lost their lives on Tuesday when a truck loaded with sand rammed into a Commercial bus on Sokponba road in Benin City, Edo State Capital.

Nine persons were said to have boarded the 10-seater bus at different locations on road bus to the King square in Benin City.

The driver of the truck was reported to have bolted away, after his truck rammed into bus on Sokponba road by Erie Street junction beside Zenith Bank and Bureau De Change offices.

Pupils and residents going to their destinations stranded for hours due to the traffic gridlock, about 100 metres to the King square.

Our reports that some relatives of the victims who wailed uncontrollably, have besieged Edo State Central hospital Complex in Benin City, to either identify their injured accident victims and bodies at the morgue.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC and Edo State Traffic Management Agency, EDTMA and Edo State Public Works Volunteers officials had been drafted to area.
