Edo workers arrested for selling fake Covid-19 vaccination cards


Unspecified number of workers in Edo State have been arrested by security operatives for allegedly selling fake Covid-19 vaccination cards in Benin City.

Recall that the State government on Wednesday September 15, 2021, began the enforcement of no evidence of Covid-19 vaccination card, no entry into public facilities, government offices across the State and Government House in Benin City, in a bid to curb the spread of the pandemic.

Dr. Osamwonyi Irowa, State Permanent Secretary ministry of Health, disclosed this during Edo State Covid-19 update on Monday in Benin City.

He however said that the was awaiting details of the suspects from the Covid-19 Taskforce pillar on security in Edo State.

He revealed that “The moment they started selling, we were able to pick them up. It is an ongoing thing. We will give you the figures when we get them.

“We are tracking them and investigating them. The security team is not here at the moment for an update”, he said.
