Sowore accuses police of ‘charging exorbitantly’ for slain brothers autopsy

.

The Convener of #RevolutionNow Movement and human activist, Omoyele Sowore has accused the law enforcement agency of alleged extortion.

He shamed police of charging exorbitantly for his younger brother, Olajide Sowore autopsy, ahead of his burial rites which is billed for Thursday at his hometown, Kiribo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area in Ondo State.

Recall that Olajide Sowore, a Pharmacy student of Igbinedion University, Okada, IUO in Edo State, was shot dead on last week Saturday morning in Isiuwa Community, Okada, Benin-Lagos highway, sparking outrage among Nigerians.

The activist who made the allegation on his Facebook page on Tuesday night, however did not state the cost of autopsy.

According to him, “Nigeria Police Force trying to shake my family down by charging us exorbitantly to discourage us from getting autopsy for my murdered brother, Olajide Sowore! Shame on Nigeria!”.

A federal high court in Abuja in October 2019 granted a N100 million bail to Omoyele Sowore with Olawale Bakare, his co-defendant, on a 7-count charge of felony preferred against them by the Nigeria government.

His movement was restricted to Abuja after he was arrested by operatives of Department of State Security Service (DSS) in Lagos State and arraigned before justice Ijeoma Ojukwu in Abuja.

According to him, “My dear brother Olajide Sowore will be buried on Thursday at our hometown, Kiribo in Ese-Odo LGA in Ondo state. I won’t be able to attend his burial because the despicable Muhammadu Buhari regime has restricted me to the Federal Capital of Thieves, Abuja”.

Police in Benin had confirmed the release of “One out of the five kidnapped victims Reverend sister Emmanuel Anyanwu was kidnapped at Isuwa by Morgan farm in the fatal abduction on 04/09/21 in which Olajide Sowore was allegedly shot dead by suspected kidnappers.
