Catholic Nun regains freedom from Olajide Sowore’s killers’ den


The Nigeria police says one out of the five abducted hostages by gunmen who killed Olajide Sowore, younger brother to human Rights activist, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, has been rescued.

Olajide Sowore, a Pharmacy student of Igbinedion University, Okada, IUO in Edo State, was shot dead on Saturday morning in Isiuwa Community, Okada, Benin-Lagos highway.

Spokesman of the Nigeria police, Edo State Command, SP. Kotongs Bello confirmed this on Sunday in a Press statement.

He announced her release few hours after Edo State Commissioner of police, Mr. Phillip Ogbadu, ordered armed police squad, local vigilante and hunters into the forest for bush combing operation for the arrest of the assailants and possible rescue operation of the hostages.

He said the kidnapped Catholic Nun, Reverend Sister Emmanuel Anyanwu, was released unhurt.

According to Kotongs, the Reverend sister, Anyanwu was kidnapped at Isiuwa by Morgan farm on Saturday September 4, 2021.

The police spokesman who did not disclose if any ransom was paid to secure Anyanwu’s release, assured that rescue operation for the remaining hostages is still ongoing.

Part of the statement reads: “One out of the five kidnapped victims reverend sister Emmanuel Anyanwu was kidnapped at Isuwa by Morgan farm on 04/09/21 has been rescued unhurt, rescue operation is still ongoing to ensure all other victims are rescued unhurt”.
