Police ask parents of abducted Zamfara students to pray

The Nigeria police has asked parents of abducted students of Government Day Secondary School in Kaya, to “exercise patience and continue to pray for the success of the ongoing rescue operation”.

Recall that 73 students were kidnapped on Wednesday when suspected bandits invaded the school at about 11:22a.m.

Spokesman of the Nigeria police, Zamfara State Command, Mohammed Shehu who confirmed the incident in a a town in Maradun Local Government Area of the State.

The public, especially parents and relatives of the students should “exercise patience and continue to pray for the success of the ongoing rescue operation”.

He revealed that security has been beefed up at Kaya Village and environs to forestall breakdown f law and order.

He also assured that the Commissioner, Ayuba Elkanah has deployed a search and rescue team to free the hostages with the support of the military.

In the meantime, the governor of Zamfara State, Mr. Bello Matawalle, has ordered the closure of all primary and secondary schools across the 14 Local government areas of the State.

He also announced restriction in movement from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. in 13 Local Government Areas of the State.

Matawalle clarified the restriction of movement in Gusau, the State Capital, will be from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
