Some staff of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) narrowly escaped death on Thursday morning when an office complex at the main auditorium of the institution, was gutted by fire.

ONE OF THE SURVIVORS OF THE BLAZE SITTING IN FRONT OF THE MAIN UNIBEN AUDITORIUM ON THURSDAY

There was no immediate report of any injury of staff who were in the line of duty when the blaze that caused pandemonium for about 30 minutes, broke out.

But the prompt response of UNIBEN fire fighters, prevented the entire complex from razing the main auditorium.

Two female staff of the University whose identities have not been revealed, in a shocking video and photos of the menacing disaster, sought the intervention of the Management to the incident.

The staff who sat on the field beside the University auditorium Complex where power surge was reported.

According to one of the staff, “Office oh. My office caught fire. UNIBEN work will not kill me. UNIBEN work will not kill us. We were inside the office. Thanks k you Jesus oh. I am fed up.

“Father oh Lord, see us through. Let Madam Salami come and see to our plights”, he said.

Investigation revealed that the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Lilian Salami has ordered investigation into the incident.
