Police operatives on Wednesday rescued three hostages after a gun duel with suspected kidnappers in Tse-Atoov, Alabar, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Recall that three suspected kidnappers were allegedly killed during the rescue operation of the wife of Benue State Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Mrs. Ann Unenge who was abducted by gunmen on Monday.
Public Relations officer of the Nigeria police, Benue State Command, DSP Catherine Anene who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, said the hostages were rescued unhurt and reunited with his family.
She revealed that the Operatives from Operation Zenda crack squad swung into action, following information that gunmen who allegedly kidnapped Mr. Peter Ogbonna of Ugba town were in a hideout at in the area and invaded the hideout of the kidnappers.
According to her, “On sighting the police, suspects engaged them in an exchange of fire, but the police were able to subdue them and three of the suspects were arrested at the crime scene”.
The statement said: “One of suspects sustained gunshot injuries, was taken to hospital where he was confirmed dead and the Corpse was deposited at the morgue.
The statement also revealed that two of suspects identified as Yakyuur Aondona and Teryange Myina are currently undergoing interrogation.
DSP Anene alleged that one fabricated barretta pistol with four rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
It further revealed that a Cordon and search operation is going to arrest fleeing suspects with gunshot wounds and enjoined members of the public to avail police with useful information about the whereabout of the fugitives.
