Police attention has been drawn to a trending video of a middle-aged man simply identified as Jokey Boy who ran amok after pouring invectives on Benin monarch His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II over the ownership of about-to-be repatriated looted Benin artifacts from Europe and America.
The Artworks which were looted from Oba of Benin palace by British invaders in 1897, had become a subject of controversy between Edo State government and the Benin monarch over who takes delivery of over 1,130 artifacts.
Spokesman of the Nigeria police, Edo State Command, SP Kotongs Bello said police won’t play the role of a meddlesome interloper in connection with the artifacts .
He told our Correspondent that: “It is a traditional case and we are not aware of anything”.
But Jokey Boy who hails from Uromi in Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, dared Benin monarch in a series of footage, berated and vilified Benin people and charge Governor Godwin Obaseki to use proceeds of artifacts to establish a state-of-the-art Museum of hid choice for the benefit of the entire people of Edo State and shun sectional interest.
But prominent Citizens across Edo State including Benin Solidarity Movement, BSM, former minister of Works, Mike Onolememen and Edo State governorship aspirant, Mr. Kenneth Imansuangbon who described the attack on Oba Ewuare II as provoking, had distanced themselves from the trending video and recommended Jokey Boy for a mental health check.
The duo on behalf of Esan people pledged their loyalty to the Royal father and sued for continuous harmony.
According to Imansuangbon: “I was shocked while watching the video and listening to the rubbish the lunatic was saying. The Esan and the Benin people are brothers. It is a fact that was passed to us from many generations, and nothing can change that. Whatever he said should not be taken seriously.

Also speaking, the President of Benin solidarity Movement, Elder Curtis Eghosa Ugbo, issued a stern warning to Jokey Boy.
He said the action of the individual would attract deleterious consequences.
Recall that Legacy Restoration Trust, got the approval of Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki to secure funds and support for the construction of Edo Museum for West African Arts, EMOWAA, before the sudden turn of events after the Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, publicly denounced the group fortnight ago, alleging a third party interference.
