The Nigerian army says two soldiers were killed during a shoot out with Eastern Security Network (ESN) on Tuesday in Enugu State.
General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier who confirmed this in a statement, said the incident occurred in Adani Community of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of the State.
Part of the statement read: ” Sadly, during the fire fight that ensued, two soldiers paid the supreme price.
“The troops are currently on the trail of the criminals”.
Nwachukwu urged the public to provide useful information on the fleeing gunmen to the force.
“We assure the general public of our commitment to provide adequate security in the general area in collaboration with other security agencies.
“We also urge members of the public to complement the effort of the security agencies by remaining law abiding and provide useful information on the fleeing gunmen,” the statement said.
