A two-day Examination for the visually-impaired people seeking University admissions through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, 2021, has ended successfully at the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
The hitch-free Examination by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), served as the Centre for Candidates in Benin City and neighbouring towns and States, including Delta State.
Dr. (Mrs.) Benedicta Ehanire, Public Relations officer of the University of Benin disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
The Equal Opportunity Examination, introduced by the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, was co-ordinated in the Benin City Centre by the former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB, Professor Oluwafemi Balogun.
Balogun commended JAMB for the initiative which is expected to help physically disadvantaged persons actualise the quest for higher education, according to the statement.
in her goodwill message, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin and Host, Professor Lilian Salami, said Management of the University was pleased to play its role in complementing the commitment of JAMB to the progress of physically challenged Nigerian children.
Candidates in the UNIBEN Centre, according to the statement, were examined on the Use of English, Literature in English, Government, and Christian Religious Knowledge.
It said the Candidates were accommodated for the duration of the examination and also provided braille materials, laptop computers and typewriters based on need and preference.
