Use mannequins, go to jail Hisbah warns tailors, boutique owners in Kano


Kano Hisbah says tailors, boutique and Supermarket owners who use mannequins in Kano State risk arrest and liable to a jail term for contravening the provision of Islamic injunctions.


The agency which saddled with the responsibility of enforcement of Shariah doctrine in the State announced the ban on mannequins, describing it as an idolatry.

Commander of the State Hisbah board, Sheikh Aroun ibn Sina handed down the warning at media briefing in Kano.

He warned that Hisbah officials will apprehend and prosecute violators who use mannequins for advert purpose to either remove it or face prosecution.

According to him: “Hisbah prohibits the use of mannequins at shops, commercial and private residences and other public places. This violates Islamic provisions, it is also responsible for immoral thoughts among some members of the public, all these are against Islam.

“We have divided Kano into five areas for the monitoring and implementation of the ban across the State”, he said.
