FG refuses details of location of Biafra separatist leader’s arrest

The federal government has refused to give details of the exact location of where the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB leader, Nanamdi Kanu was rearrested, leaving everyone guessing.

The IPOB leader, was rearrested and arraigned in court on 11 count charge including treasonable felony, terrorism and illegal possession of fire arms and remanded in DSS custody, pending the continuation of his trial on July 26.

At a Media briefing on Thursday in Abuja, the minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed said

He however admitted that the re-arrest was made possible by the diligent efforts of security and intelligence agencies in collaboration with undisclosed Countries.

Mohammed said: “There have been speculations on how this re-arrest was pulled off and in which country the hitherto fugitive leader of the proscribed IPOB was nabbed.

“What we can tell you, once again, is that the re-arrest was made possible by the diligent efforts of our security and intelligence agencies, in collaboration with Countries with which we have obligations. We continue to respect and honour the obligations”.

The minister revealed that security agencies trailed Kanu for two years, stressing that his collaborators no matter how highly placed in society, will not be spared by the government.

According to him, “Forensic investigation carried our has revealed a very important and useful information”.

He so alleged the IPOB leader lived a flamboyant lifestyle and denied many of the victims of the violence which he wilfully instigated through his broadcast outfit and tweets, pains.

Reacting to calls for Kanu to have a fair trial, the minister said, “Many are suddenly calling for a fair trial for Kanu as if he didn’t get one before, he (Nnamdi Kanu) decided to jump bail and flee”, he said.
