South African ex-president, Zuma bags 15 months imprisonment

.

South African court has sentenced former President of the Country, Mr. Jacob Zuma to 15 months imprisonment for contempt of court.

79-year-old Zuma was found guilty guilty of contempt of court following his refusal to appear before a graft panel.

Judge Sisi Khampepe gave the judgement on Tuesday, said: “The Constitutional Court can do nothing but conclude that Mr Zuma is guilty of the crime of contempt of court”.

He was forced to step down as president in 2018 over corruption allegations.

But he defied an order by the constitutional court in January to appear at an inquiry into corruption while he was president.
