A 79-year-old father, Alhaji Abdullahi Oronsaye has been hacked to death by his 15-year-old son in Benin City, the Edo State Capital.
The deceased was murdered in the early hours of Sunday barely two weeks after he pleaded with police not to arrest the teenager who had threatened to kill him because he is a minor.
The tragedy which occurred on Egbon Estate Road by second Power Line, Ugbighoko Quarters, Benin City, threw residents of the area into mourning.
Family members and sympathizers who converged on the residence of late Oronsaye at 30, Agbon Estate road where the incident occurred.
Blood stains littered the bedroom of Oronsaye, a landlord in the Street, was murdered in his sleep by the alleged fugitive with an axe.
One of the sons of the decease, alleged that his father, described his late father as a kind-hearted man.
Spokesman of the Nigeria police, Edo State Command, SP. Kotongs Bello who confirmed the incident, said investigation has commenced.
Our Correspondent reports that men and women present at the residence of Oronsaye’s family compound, wailed uncontrollably as others laid their hands on their heads in utter shock and disbelief when police personnel from Evbuotubu Division in Egor Local Government Area of the State came to take his body to undisclosed morgue.
The security personnel also sealed up the scene for crime as part of investigation by the homicide Department from police headquarters in Benin City.
